Riviera Travel is launching river trips exclusively for solo travellers.
Starting in June 2027, MS George Eliot will exclusively sail solo departures on the Danube, Rhine and Moselle rivers.
Riviera Travel’s CEO Phil Hullah described the move as a landmark moment not only for Riviera, “but for the river cruise industry as a whole”.
On its website, Riviera Travel says: “Every cabin on the MS George Eliot is for one guest only. No sharing. No supplements. No compromises. This is solo travel, Riviera style – your own space, your own pace, and the freedom to explore, with the company of like-minded travellers.”
Riviera Travel currently offers more than 20 dedicated solo departures each year, the majority taking place during the shoulder seasons, with every traveller enjoying a private cabin with no additional single supplement.
By adding a dedicated solo traveller ship to its fleet, Riviera Travel said it will allow solo travellers to choose whether they sail during peak river cruise season or at other times throughout the year.
MS George Eliot will enter service in June 2027 alongside Riviera Alba, the brand’s first vessel deployed outside of Europe, sailing on the Mekong River.
