After nearly a decade of leadership, Lionel Wong has stepped down as CEO of SATS-Creuers Cruise Services (SCCS) and Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore (MBCCS) on 31st March 2025.
Appointed in January 2016, Wong led MBCCS through significant growth, including overseeing its pivotal role in Singapore's pandemic response.
Under his guidance, MBCCS not only flourished but garnered numerous accolades, including Travel Weekly Asia's Best Cruise Terminal in Asia for five consecutive years (2018-2022) and Singapore Tourism Awards for Community Care in 2021.
Wong’s leadership was instrumental during the pandemic, managing the accommodation of over 8,000 migrant workers on ships, as well as steering the CruiseSafe Resumption initiative in 2020 to safely resume cruising in Singapore.
Reflecting on his tenure, Lionel expressed his pride in the achievements of the team and the unwavering support of the industry. He will transition to new roles within the SATS Group following his departure.
Taking over as CEO with effect from 1 April 2025 will be Gregory Tan, who served as COO of SATS-Creuers since April 2024. A familiar face at MBCCS, Tan previously served as head of operations from 2017 to 2020. He played a key role during the early days of the pandemic, facilitating the safe departure of passengers from the Costa Fortuna and handling emergency situations, such as coordinating meal services for stranded passengers aboard Genting Dream.
With extensive experience in both tourism management and aviation, Gregory’s appointment marks a new chapter for MBCCS as the company continues to strengthen its position as a leading cruise terminal in Asia.
