Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is set to expand its private island in the Bahamas with the launch of a large-scale waterpark, Great Tides Waterpark, opening in summer 2026. Spanning nearly 2.4 hectares, the new development will feature 19 waterslides, including a four-person family slide, cliff jumping platforms, a dynamic river, and a jet kart racecourse.

The park’s centrepiece is the 52-metre Tidal Tower, which will include eight slides ranging from mat racers and tube spirals to body slides. Several slides will be equipped with conveyor belts to transport rafts to the top.

Cliffside Cove will offer cruise-first cliff jumps at heights of 3 and 4.6 metres. Other features include a grotto bar beneath the family slide and a children’s splash zone measuring over 836 square metres with mini slides and a 12-metre-tall tipping bucket.

A nearly 244-metre dynamic river with an accelerated current will run through the park, with swim-up access and a glowing grotto tunnel. Cabanas will line the river and splash zone for added convenience.

The waterpark will require a single entry fee, yet to be announced. Most other island amenities remain complimentary, including the hammocks, Horizon Park, and a 2,601-square-metre pool and adjacent splash area. The 'More at Sea' beverage package will also apply on the island.

The build is part of a broader US$150 million investment, which includes a new pier and expanded guest facilities. By 2026, Great Stirrup Cay is projected to welcome one million guests across 15 ships. Caribbean capacity is also set to grow, supported by high demand and new programmes through to October 2027. Sailings will feature stops at both Great Stirrup Cay and Harvest Caye in Belize.
