Royal Caribbean International has become an official jersey partner
of Inter Miami football club, whose part owner is David Beckham and
whose best-known player is Lionel Messi.
The reveal of the partnership, beginning with the upcoming 2024
campaign, follows the recent announcement that the two Florida-based
powerhouses will join forces across various promotions.
La Noche, the club’s away kit inspired by the energy and excitement
of Miami at night, was revealed with RCI’s crown and anchor logo at a
celebration on the highly anticipated ship, Icon of the Seas, the
world’s biggest cruise ship.
Messi, TIME’s 2023 Athlete of the Year and eight-time Ballon d’Or
winner, officially named and bestowed safekeeping on Icon of the Seas
and its crew.
RCI says Icon is “the first-of-its-kind combination of every
vacation, from the resort getaway to the beach escape and the theme park
adventure”.
Icon of the Seas made its debut on 27 January with the first
neighbourhood designed for young families, and more than 40 ways to
dine, drink and be entertained.
The ship has 2,805 cabins, seven swimming pools and nine whirlpools,
the first suspended swimming pool at sea, a three-storey family
townhouse costing US80,000 a week and an aqua dome with a 55-foot
waterfall.
RCI made sure everyone in Miami was aware of Icon’s arrival in the
city. “We came in – unapologetically – very loud,” Royal Caribbean
president Michael Bayley told a media briefing. “We put US$100,000-worth
of speakers on the side of the ship and woke up the city. We stopped
the traffic.”
