German-built Genting Dream, which will be followed by a second ship World Dream in 2017, will accommodate 3,400 guests and 2,000 crew giving it the highest guest to staff ratio of any Asia Pacific based ship. In addition, her 45 tons per guest makes her the most spacious too.

Tapping on Asia’s growing premium cruise market, Genting Hong Kong has announced a new premium cruise line – Dream Cruises.

The line’s ships will sail the waters as soon as November 2016.

German-built Genting Dream, which will be followed by a second ship World Dream in 2017, will accommodate 3,400 guests and 2,000 crew giving it the highest guest to staff ratio of any Asia Pacific based ship. In addition, her 45 tons per guest makes her the most spacious too.

“Being the first company to offer cruises in China, over 20 years ago, with Star Cruises, we conceived Genting Dream three years ago to be the only purpose-built premium category new build for the Asian, and specifically Chinese, market,” said Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, chairman and chief executive officer, speaking on board SuperStar Virgo earlier this month.

“Dream Cruises’ ships will be the most spacious ships in Asia Pacific and provide the highest level of guest service in the region.”

The ship’s Dream Suites, taking up two floors, will range from 32 to 183 square metres, with butler service and numerous special privileges included. In addition, 70 per cent of the staterooms will include balconies and more than 100 will be connecting rooms, catering especially for larger families.

While the food and beverage focus will be on Asian cuisines, there will be more than 35 restaurants and bars. Activities include numerous pools, six water slides, a climbing course, bowling alley and a 610m wrap around promenade. Health and wellness will be offered via Asian and western spas, a beauty salon, barbershop and health club. With Chinese passengers in mind there will also be mahjong and card rooms as well as plenty of duty-free shopping.

Genting Dream will triple homeport out of Guangzhou (Nansha Port), Hong Kong and Sanya with two-, five- or seven-night itineraries that include combinations of Hong Kong, Halong Bay, Danang, Sanya, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai, depending on the homeport.
