Celebrity Edge dazzles Asia with maiden call in Singapore

Singapore welcomed the Celebrity Edge from Celebrity Cruises on 25 November 2023, marking the ship's maiden call in the city-state as part of its inaugural Asia cruise.

This arrival occurred at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre, concluding the second leg of a remarkable 40-night repositioning voyage from Europe to Australia, following a preceding Dubai-to-Singapore route.

An edge above the rest

Launched in October 2018, the Celebrity Edge was highly anticipated for its innovations in the cruise industry. Its distinctive Parabolic Bow ensured superior sea-keeping and fuel efficiency, while its futuristic design captivated cruise lovers worldwide. Internally, it introduced revolutionary venues like Eden and the Infinite Veranda concept, reshaping the definition of onboard luxury.

Even nearing its fifth year, the EDGE continued to captivate, receiving prestigious recognition in 2023 from the Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards.

A tour of the Edge

Travel agents and media across Asia were exclusively invited to tour the vessel during its Singapore stay.

The Sky Suite on Celebrity Edge offers refined comfort with a separate bedroom, bathroom with a sunken tub, and spacious living area. Guests relish exclusive perks like priority embarkation and access to The Retreat.

The Retreat is an exclusive sanctuary for suite guests, offering private amenities such as a pool deck, sun deck, lounge, and the premium dining experience at Luminae at The Retreat.

The Magic Carpet is an exclusive feature found solely on Edge-series cruise ships. This cantilevered platform functions as a versatile bar and restaurant, moving along the ship's decks. It seamlessly transitions into a tendering platform at ports, ensuring effortless passenger movements during onshore excursions.

Located at Deck 5 aft, Eden defies traditional ship architecture with its three-deck-high glass windows offering captivating ocean views and a natural ambiance. Operating as a cafe, lounge, and entertainment hub, Eden hosts diverse activities, including dance classes, live music, and features the Eden Restaurant and Bar.

Departing from conventional maritime design, the asymmetrical space of the Resort Deck prioritises uninterrupted ocean vistas, accessible to all guests on board. It includes the Edge Cabanas for privacy-seeking guests, the Rooftop Garden adorned with oversized art installations, and the Rooftop Garden Grill serving gourmet cuisine.

There’s also state-of-the-art spa and gym facilities on decks 14 and 15 provide guests with mesmerising sea views while indulging in wellness activities.

To celebrate the Celebrity Edge's first arrival in Singapore, adhering to maritime customs, Ong Huey Hong, Assistant Chief Executive of Policy and Planning Group and Chief Sustainability Officer at the Singapore Tourism Board, along with Lionel Wong, CEO of SATS-Creuers Cruise Services—Terminal Operator for Marina Bay Cruise Center Singapore, engaged in a plaque exchange ceremony with Captain Matt Karandreas of the Celebrity Edge.
