Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled Norwegian Jewel after multi-million-dollar refurbishment as part of The Norwegian Edge programme.
The ship underwent a two-week dry dock in Singapore for the company’s most extensive enhancement that covered all its staterooms and updated selected dining and entertainment venues, showing off brightened ship interiors in beige and light brown tones.
All 1,188 staterooms now feature new televisions and USB outlets, as well as new carpet, artwork and furniture.
The Haven, the ship’s private-access suite enclave, had received updates to its courtyard area, additional cabanas on the sun deck. All suites and villas have been refurbished with new finishes, carpets, tiles, drapes, artwork and furniture.

The works have also added two new suites to The Haven. At nearly 1,200 sq ft (111.4sqm), the new Haven Deluxe Owner’s Suites will be able to accommodate up to four guests, and features large 52.7sqm balconies and two private jacuzzis.
Nearly all 16 dining, bar and lounge offerings on Norwegian Jewel were updated, and two new venues were opened – The Pit Stop and Bliss Ultra Lounge, replacing the Sky High Bar and FYZZ Cabaret Lounge.
The ship’s entertainment has also been updated with two new shows. ‘Rock You Tonight’ features music from the 70s with the likes of Queen, Journey and The Who, while Velvet, an Australian musical, will make its debut at sea with disco classics, circus acrobatics, cabaret and burlesque elements.
“Norwegian Jewel’s complete renovation showcases our dedication to providing guests with quality experiences across the fleet and around the world,” said Andy Stuart, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line.
“Not only are we revealing updated designs and accommodations throughout the ship, but guests will also enjoy new venues and three incredibly exciting shows, one of which premieres for the first time on Norwegian Jewel.”
As the heart of the ship, the Atrium draws all eyes to a new custom-design chandelier. The works have also given the venue new flooring, refurbished reception and shore excursion desk areas, the addition of relaxed banquette seating and a large TV screen.
Norwegian Jewel will offer sailings of seven to 19 days, with itineraries to Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore during her winter 2018 and spring 2019 seasons before joining Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Joy in Alaska for the summer.
Norwegian Jewel will join Norwegian Jade for sailings in the region, while Norwegian Spirit will begin cruising the China region seasonally from summer 2020 onwards.
