HONG KONG – Continental Airlines reported first quarter 2007 net income of US$22 million. This is the first time they achieved first quarter profit in six years. The company attributed the success to strong revenue growth, continued cost discipline and a slight decrease in fuel prices. Jeff Smisek, Continental’s president said that revenue growth is almost twice the rate of capacity growth and that although the domestic system suffers from yield pressure the international system is performing superbly.
