Brunei's luxury Empire Hotel, formerly known as the
Jerudong Park Hotel and often called the most expensive
hotel ever built, will open its doors before the Asian
Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Brunei, Mark
Hennebry, deputy general manager of the Empire told
TravelWeekly East.
Henebry would not say what day the hotel would open but
that they were aiming for August or September. The APEC
meetings will be held in November.
"Usually hotels have an opening date and it moves and it
moves and it moves. Ours can't because we've got APEC.
There's a definite sense of urgency," said Henebry.
All hotels in Brunei are gearing up for the APEC
meetings, which will bring 4,000 - 5,000 delegates and
journalists to a 2,000-hotel room town.
