Location and History
In the heart of Tuscany, an hours' drive south of Siena, perched on a prominent bluff just outside the tiny village of Montalcino, with bird's-eye views of the valley's vineyards and towering Monte Amiata, this once-dilapidated 11th-century fortress has been reworked to promote the ideals of 21st-century luxury.
Rebuilt in 1997, the owner restored many of the historical features, including a 12th-century watchtower that kept villagers abreast of the marauding Medici clan.
