Amid more than 100 acres of rain forest, this 11-room boutique bohemian hideaway was created by combining the restored remains of a sugar plantation built in 1801, new construction and the interior design aesthetic of married New York artists Helen and Brice Marden.

Perched high on the southern slope of Nevis Peak with spectacular views down to the Caribbean coast, it is about 20 minutes from the island's main town and popular hangout Pinney's Beach.
