Description
This dormered 2 & 3-story neoclassic brick hotel was modeled after the Potomac-side view of Mount Vernon.
Location and History
Built in 1924 by a UNC graduate, this delightful dormered two- and three-story neoclassic brick hotel was modeled after the Potomac-side view of Mount Vernon. The hotel was considered the height of modernity at its time, with an ice machine and electricity as some of its cutting-edge features.
The university has owned the hotel since 1935, and it's popular with academics and UNC followers, thanks to a prime location in the heart of the college's campus. The hotel holds high standards in both the service and maintenance arenas.
