Location and History
Hotel Opus XVI is housed in a historic brick building from 1876 that was constructed for Bergen's largest bank, which conducted business there for decades. Eventually the bank departed and the building was used for various purposes, including a popular nightclub, before eventually sitting empty.
In 2018, the great-great-grandnephew of Norwegian composer Edward Grieg, who was from Bergen, purchased the building and transformed it into a luxury hotel, named after one of Grieg's famous compositions, Opus XVI.
