Emirates has become the first global airline to let customers pay for airline tickets through Apple Pay, Apple’s mobile payment feature.

Apple Pay stores customers’ credit- or debit-card information and then accepts payments via the Apple Pay app. The service enables customers to link their iPhones to accounts at Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One, Chase and Citibank, among other financial institutions.
JetBlue Airways in February became the first U.S. carrier to allow onboard purchases via Apple Pay, though the company didn’t enable ticket purchases through the service.
JetBlue customers can use Apple Pay to buy food, alcoholic beverages and upgrades to seats with more legroom.
Priceline Group in December integrated Apple Pay into its iPhone and iPad apps, allowing customers to use the service for “Express Deals” hotel bookings.
Apple Pay also has been integrated in the smartphone app for accommodations-listing service Airbnb.
