MEET Taiwan's annual Asia Super Team (AST) competition is back again this year, calling the region's businesses to compete for a chance of winning a US$50,000 incentive travel package to Taiwan.

Themed 'Future Land', AST 2021 is open to enterprise teams from Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines, to "experience the best of Taiwan's incentive travel in a stress-free and safe environment".

Typically, one team per country would be invited to Taiwan for a multi-day competition, but the 2021 edition, like last year, will proceed on a virtual interactive game platform.

Teams of four should complete the online registrations by 24 September for a chance to move onto stage 2 on 12 October — where eight final teams will explore Taiwan's incentive travel hotspots and team building activities virtually.

In 2019, AST was filmed in a reality show format, and documented participants' journey across Taiwan which was subsequently posted on MEET Taiwan's Facebook page and YouTube channel.

To circumvent the pandemic, the event went digital for the first time last year, incorporating interactive elements such as online contests, voting, augmented reality Facebook filters, and virtual reality headsets.

The popular cross-country event is sponsored by Taiwan's Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs and executed by TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council).
