SINGAPORE – NATAS Travel 2020 which was to be held at Singapore Expo from 1-3 May, has been cancelled even as the industry finds its feet and seizes this time “to reset, get creative and reskilled”, in the words of Singapore tourism’s chief Keith Tan.
NATAS will also review the status of NATAS Holidays 2020 scheduled in August and will decide in due course if we should call for a postponement or cancellation of the fair.– NATAS
More than ever, he believes that it will be important for the industry to keep an eye on the distinctives of its brand equality and solidify it.
National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) organises two fairs annually, NATAS Travel in Feb/March and NATAS Holidays in the second half of the year, drawing crowds of more than 110,000 each year.
NATAS Travel fair attracts outbound travel agents, national tourist organisations, airlines, hotels, car rental companies and travel-related services.
In its statement, NATAS said that it has been closely monitoring the developments surrounding the current COVID-19 pandemic including local and global government travel advisories; public health risk assessment and the uncertain travel sentiments.
“This decision was also made in view of exhibitors’ responses to the poll conducted amongst exhibitors on 13 March, where a vast majority of exhibitors were in favour of the fair’s cancellation.
“In addition, we are pleased to advice that NATAS will offer a full refund for Travel 2020 exhibitors’ booth rental. NATAS will also review the status of NATAS Holidays 2020 scheduled in August and will decide in due course if we should call for a postponement or cancellation of the fair.”
