SINGAPORE – Webjet Singapore Pte Ltd (“Webjet Singapore”) today announced the official launch of its Website at www.webjet.com.sg, following the launch of Webjet Hong Kong in early January as part of partnership operations with Westminster Travel Limited, to catch the soar of internet flight and hotel booking demands in Singapore. "With increasing numbers of Singaporeans spending more time on the Internet to visit travel sites to make bookings for flights and hotel accommodation, we believe it’s a right time to launch Webjet Singapore to jump on the bandwagon," said David Clarke, chairman of Webjet Singapore. A survey conducted by Visa for Asia Pacific countries in 2009 revealed that Singaporean respondents spent US$3,085 in the past 12 months on travel-related services, and the top three travel key online spend areas were airline/airline tickets (US$1,019), travel accommodation (US$841) and online travel agents (US$602). It also showed that Singapore, which spent an average of US$1,882 on overseas e-commerce websites in past 12 months, was the region's highest spenders on cross-border e-commerce. Clarke added, "It is a good sign to show the resilient of e-commerce transactions in Singapore after uncertain global economic condition in previous year. From geographical perspective, Webjet Singapore is strategically established as a hub for travelling originated from Singapore to nearby countries, Middle East region and then to the rest of the world. We expect it can generate synergies and bring together more trans-pacific volumes with Webjet Australia and Webjet Hong Kong." Besides an advanced proprietary flights search engine and “StaythenPay” hotel program, the Webjet Singapore Website is also launched with online payment security and fraudulence prevention tools to boost e-commerce consumer confidence. All personal information is encrypted by digital certificate via data transmission.
