The travel rebound doesn’t seem like it is slowing down or stagnating
anytime soon. Instead, Amadeus' latest figures show that it continues
to pick up as air traffic improves. Its latest financial report
indicates substantial growth in the first quarter of 2023, compared to
the same period in the previous year.
The report shows that Amadeus saw a 32.8% increase in Air
Distribution bookings, which means more people are booking flights.
Additionally, Air IT Solutions passengers boarding flights increased by
55.1%, indicating that more people are traveling by air. These figures
are supported by the fact that the company's Air Distribution and Air IT
Solutions revenue also increased by 52.2% and 35.7%, respectively.
The company's Hospitality & Other Solutions revenue also grew by
31.3%, indicating an increase in demand for their services. The report
also highlights a 43.0% increase in group revenue, a 72.3% growth in
EBITDA, a 187.6% increase in adjusted profit, and a 117.4% rise in free
cash flow.
Luis Maroto, president & CEO of Amadeus, attributed the company's
strong performance to the recovering travel volumes, especially in Asia
Pacific, where the company saw bookings grow above 150%, and passengers
boarded flights above 120% in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the
same period in 2022.
Maroto also revealed that several airlines migrated to Amadeus'
systems during the quarter, and the company maintains a positive
commercial pipeline, which should support its performance in the future.
