Amadeus Hospitality has recently published a comprehensive report titled "Catalysts for Change: Building the Hospitality Ecosystem of the Future," shedding light on the evolving expectations of travellers and the imperative for personalised, flexible, and sustainable journeys.

The report underscores the significance of Amadeus' ecosystem approach, which integrates content from hotels, mobility services, and travel insurance to meet the evolving demands of travelers in the modern era.

The travel landscape of 2023 differs significantly from that of 2019, and these changing expectations are acting as catalysts for transformation within the hospitality industry. Personalisation has become a key priority, with travellers seeking tailored offers and experiences when making travel bookings. Additionally, there is a growing desire for flexible and sustainable journeys, accompanied by the use of digital tools to streamline and enhance the travel experience.

The release of this report coincides with the ongoing recovery of the travel industry. As of 6 May 2023, data from Amadeus Demand360 indicates that global hotel occupancy for June has reached 32%, surpassing figures from 2022 and 2021 for the same month.

Notably, this occupancy level is only three points behind that of 2019, highlighting a robust global recovery. Major destinations like Rome, Paris, Tokyo, Seoul, and Singapore are also experiencing higher occupancies in June 2023 compared to the same period in 2019, further reinforcing the positive trend of recovery.

Furthermore, global hotel average daily rates (ADR) have exceeded pre-pandemic levels, with June 2023 recording an ADR of US$216, compared to US$184 in June 2019.

In light of these encouraging trends and the rising expectations of travellers, the hospitality industry must proactively adapt to meet evolving needs. Amadeus aims to bring together content from various sources such as hotels, mobility services, and travel insurance into a unified ecosystem. This collaborative approach enables effective cooperation between travel providers and sellers, ultimately delivering memorable experiences to guests while simultaneously driving demand and fostering industry growth.

Francisco Pérez-Lozao Rüter, president of hospitality at Amadeus, emphasises the importance of collaboration in the travel industry. He envisions combining content from key travel providers to cater to the requirements of today's travellers, who seek options tailored to their preferences and a seamless booking process.

According to him, the integration of content through Amadeus' ecosystem approach is a game-changer for travel sellers, allowing them to personalise offerings and maximise revenue. With a strong commitment to prioritising the traveller, Amadeus aims to facilitate the creation of end-to-end journeys that fulfill the desires of today's discerning travellers.
