The ‘smart-tech’ solution will use data analytics to offer interested guests upgrade options from the time of booking, as well as ‘reminders’ three days and 24 hours before check-in.

Upgrading.cc, a new online travel platform launching this year will enable hotels and serviced apartment operators to offer room upgrades, lounge access and special promotions to interested guests for purchase, at no investment cost.

The Singapore startup aims to help hotels and serviced apartments sustain positive growth in revenue per available room (RevPAR) on the back of a price-sensitive marketplace that sees average daily rates being relatively suppressed.

The ‘smart-tech’ solution will use data analytics to offer interested guests upgrade options from the time of booking, as well as ‘reminders’ three days and 24 hours before check-in.

The platform features three tiers of partnerships, ‘Tall’ and ‘Grande’, as well as a ‘Venti’ category for hospitality chains. All categories allow partners to offer upgrades, with ‘Grande’ partners having the option of automated alerts sent by Upgrading.cc to eligible guests.

Guests can choose from three categories of upgrades, namely room categories upgrades, lounge access or special promotions for club rooms and suites for weekdays and weekends.

Integrated on the platform is a dynamic pricing application, which will enable partners more control and flexibility to achieve their desired RevPAR gains.

The Singapore startup, founded by hospitality and travel industry veteran Cetin Sekercioglu, will be launching in the third quarter of this year.

“Our technology provides easy-to-use real-time upgrading solutions to guests prior to their arrival. Equally important, it enables our hotel and service apartment partners to optimise revenue opportunities that would otherwise have been left untapped,” said Sekercioglu. “In this way, the Upgrading.cc platform brings unprecedented benefits to all parties in the travel industry.”

Sekercioglu has previously launched other innovative products and services, including digitising food and beverage loyalty programs and Bookers' Club, the Best Practices online platform for idea sharing, and introducing the first in-room delivery robotic technology in Asia Pacific.

These initiatives have generated an incremental revenue of more than US$1 billion.
