From behind-the-scenes to front row seats, fans of Japan’s infamous sport of sumo will get phenomenal insights into the sport and lifestyle of the country’s wrestlers with the Sensationally Sumo packages.

Experiences are what make a trip to a new destination memorable, and while Japan is a perennial favourite destination for Asia, a new activity offered by the Palace Hotel Tokyo invites travellers to get up close with the country’s famous sumo wrestlers.

From behind-the-scenes to front row seats, fans of Japan’s infamous sport of sumo will get phenomenal insights into the sport and lifestyle of the country’s wrestlers with the Sensationally Sumo packages.

Sumo has tournament seasons (January, May and September). During these months a sumo sports writer and announcer will personally guide guests around the hallowed Ryogoku Kokugikan stadium and museum, and stay around to help explain the sport during the gripping matches.

For those visiting between these months, the off-season options might be even better. Guests will be invited to visit a sumo wrestling stable and watch the wrestlers at practice before they sit down to lunch with the wrestlers, getting an exclusive peak at their legendary lifestyles. Selfies with sumo wrestlers included, of course!

The experience includes tow nights at the property, with rooms overlooking the Imperial Palace gardens, plus daily breakfast and, if suites are booked, Club Lounge privileges.
