We know Morocco has a great soccer team after their exploits in the
World Cup in Qatar – losing narrowly to France in the semi-finals – but
it’s also a fabulous tourist destination, says Bruce Poon Tip, founder
of G Adventures.
G Adventures has included Morocco among the places travellers should visit in 2023 “to both save on costs and give back”.
“These places offer affordability and added value in-destination,
while still giving back to the local communities that are trying to
revive – and ultimately thrive – following the impact of the pandemic on
the international tourism industry,” Boon Tip adds.
“Forever photogenic” Morocco is chosen for its excellent value on the
ground and attractive price point as well as its easy access from
European hubs.
Also, on G Adventures’ great value-and-give-back playlist for 2023
are Sri Lanka, Turkey, Japan, Peru, Thailand (“perfect for students and
young people to hit up Southeast Asia, and support locally-owned hostels
along the way on a 'Roamies' trip”), Mexico, South Africa and Egypt.
Poon Tip says while 2023 is set to be the year of full recovery for
travel businesses, “it's important travel companies keep their eye on
the ball when it comes to sustainability”.
“Travellers have changed what they are looking for in terms of
meaningful experiences supporting local people and the environment –
travel is building back differently, and better. It's going to be so
important to continue with that focus no matter what happens
economically this year.”
