Melco Resorts & Entertainment has set up a new mentorship programme to raise Macau's youth entrepreneurs for the future.
The Adopt a Micro-Enterprise programme in September invited representatives from six nominated micro-enterprises on an experiential tour at City of Dreams, Melco’s integrated resort in Macau that offers a diverse range of entertainment options.
These local youth entrepreneurs also met staff from Melco’s various business units — Warehouse, Wardrobe, Guest Experience and Events & Promotion — who delivered in-depth explanations of the integrated resort’s core operations.
In addition, Melco’s Supply Chain team highlighted tips for successful business pitching that focused on marketing and business management skills, a sharing session that representative Wilson Chu found insightful.
“The tour has provided a fuller picture of the company’s operation processes, both from the frontline and backend,” said Chu, business development and partnership director of MPS Company Limited.
“My mentor explained the procurement requirements of such large-scale integrated resorts, and also provided helpful insight on ways in which I can improve my own business,” Chu added.
“Melco will continue its commitment to supporting local micro SMEs [small and medium-sized enterprises] and youth entrepreneurs for the community’s sustainable development,” said Akiko Takahashi, executive vice president of Melco.
The programme is organised in collaboration with Junior Chamber International Macao, China; Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre; and Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center.
