Cross Hotels & Resorts and Discova have joined forces to launch
"Kaura Bali", a unique and immersive experience that connects travellers
to the village culture and natural beauty of Bali.
The village experience, located in the lush hills of Karangasem in
East Bali, has been developed in harmony with the environment and in
direct partnership with the villagers of Manggis.
Kaura Bali started as a community project to repair a damaged
irrigation pipe which has since transformed into a tourism concept that
is touted as the first of its kind in the industry.
The retreat offers stunning views from its infinity pool, Balinese
styled tents, a yoga sala, and a spa. Guests can relax in the comfort of
Balinese hospitality and participate in a range of activities,
including organic farming, guided treks, cycling, cooking classes, and
wellness workshops with the villagers.
Kaura Bali is not just a tourism project involving two travel
companies, but a collaboration between the villagers of Manggis,
Discova, and Cross Hotels & Resorts. The project aligns with the
commitment to sustainable tourism and directly benefits the local
community by providing an alternate source of livelihood.
"It is part of our longstanding commitment to sustainable tourism,
which directly benefits local communities," Suyin Lee, managing director
of Discova explains. "The villagers wanted to adopt organic farming, to
improve farming practices and to bring prosperity back to their
village. Now they are welcoming everyone to experience the real Bali and
in doing so, creating an alternate source of livelihood.”
CEO of Cross Hotels & Resorts, Harry Thaliwal, says, "Our goal of
self-sustaining retreats, created in partnership with local
communities, is at the core of Cross’s vision for an evolving industry.
Through education and sustainable development with the villagers, Kaura
will deliver life-changing experiences for travellers."
Kaura is the sixth brand from Cross Hotels & Resorts.
