SINGAPORE – Hospitality giant Wyndham Hotels & Resorts have strengthened its commitment to South-east Asia and the Pacific Rim region with a recent spate of key strategic appointments.
Of which, Mr Rex Loh has been appointed to the role of Vice President of Commercial, overseeing the South-east Asia and Pacific Rim region.
In his new role as VP of Commercial, Mr Loh will be responsible for leading and driving sales, marketing, revenue management and distribution efforts for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in the region. He brings to Wyndham more than two decades of hospitality experience.

Mr Loh was last appointed cluster director of Sales & Marketing at Marriott International, where he oversaw JW Marriott Singapore South Beach, The St. Regis Singapore and W Sentosa Cove.
Before that, he held leadership roles at IHG including Director, Commercial – Asia and Australasia Resorts responsible for sales and marketing functions of 26 resorts in Thailand, Vietnam, Maldives, Indonesia, Fiji, Mauritius and French Polynesia.
Prior to IHG, Rex held director roles at hotels under luxury brands like Ritz Carlton and Shangri-La.

“We are expanding rapidly in the region with 22% year-over-year growth through the second quarter. The appointment of Rex will be instrumental in helping further propel our brand presence and growth in the region.”
In another strategic appointment, Ben Schumacher will take on the role of Head of Operations. Based in Singapore, Mr Schumacher will lead the hotel operations for both franchised and managed hotels across the region.
Having first joined Wyndham in 2016 as a Franchise Services Manager, he has been instrumental in the development of the franchise operations team across the region.
In the past few years, Mr Schumacher has been directly responsible for the successful opening of more than 15 hotels and instrumental in supporting operations in South Korea over the past 12 months. Alongside his team, Mr Schumacher currently services more than 130 franchised hotels within the South-east Asia and Pacific Rim region.
Before joining Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Ben undertook several senior operational roles within the hotel industry and was part of pre-opening teams across Australia and New Zealand for various Hilton Hotels.
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts also announced the appointment of Joanne Simpson to the role of Lead Counsel. In her role, Ms Simpson will provide the company with strategic legal advice across all commercial contracts and acquisitions, franchise and management agreements, and ensure compliance with applicable securities and corporate laws and regulations.
