Lim Boon Kwee has been appointed CEO of Singapore Hotel and Tourism
Education Centre (SHATEC), previously held by Margaret Heng since 2011.
After passing the baton to Lim, Heng will rejoin SHATEC as a
non-executive board member. She will still remain as the executive
director of Singapore Hotel Association (SHA), a role she held
concurrently during her helm as chief executive of SHATEC.
Lim, meanwhile, most recently served as the COO of Dusit
International where he led the charge of expanding the group’s portfolio
and oversaw the financial and operational responsibilities of Dusit’s
hotel business from 2016 to 2022. He had also served as the president of
Dusit Fudu Hotel Management Company, Dusit’s joint venture company
based in Shanghai.
Lim’s passion for hospitality management can be traced back to the
1980s at The Westin Stamford & Westin Plaza, Singapore (now
Swissotel The Stamford and Fairmont Singapore), where he honed his
expertise in F&B operations across the complex’s 15 restaurants and
bars.
He then took up senior leadership roles in Millennium and Copthorne,
Shangri-La, Westin, Sheraton, Rosewood (formerly New World), and IHG in
Singapore, China and the US.
In his new leadership role at SHATEC, Lim expresses his delight at
being able to be “be involved in grooming our young talents to become
future leaders of the hospitality industry. I look forward to working
with all stakeholders to make SHATEC a significant brand in hospitality
education in Singapore and the rest of the world.”
