Seasoned hotelier Christopher Chia is now the general manager of Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong.
In his new role, Chia will oversee the daily operations of Island
Shangri-La, including the extensive refurbishment of guestrooms, a new
wellness concept and the introduction of new family rooms and facilities
to the 30-year-old hotel by this year-end.
His appointment is key to leading the hotel through these challenging
times, managing the strategic growth of the property by venturing into
new market segments, and further refining the guest experience at Island
Shangri-La.
Chia will also oversee Aberdeen Marina Club in his new capacity.
The seasoned Shangri-La was most recently vice president at
Shangri-La Hotel International Management, a role he had held since 2014
while also concurrently helming China World Hotel as general manager
from 2016 to 2019.
Chia’s career spans over 30 years with the Shangri-La Group, during
which he has overseen flagship properties such as Shangri-La Hotel,
Singapore; Edsa Shangri-La Hotel, Manila and Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing.
He has also developed new projects under the group’s portfolio across
the North China region.
