A newly formed corporate entity, Worldwide Hotels Group, will now house six Singapore-grown hospitality brands, making it the largest homegrown tourist class hotel group.

Longstanding brand Hotel 81, alongside sibling brands Venue Hotel, V Hotel, Hotel Boss and Hotel Mi, cover more than 6,500 rooms in Singapore, comprising a significant 10% of hotel room inventory in the country. By Singapore Tourism Board’s count, there are 67,084 rooms across 420 hotels.

The group currently owns and manages some 38 properties but has ambitions to expand overseas. It has also acquired properties in Malaysia, Thailand and Australia, with more developments to come.

“The consolidation of our brands under Worldwide Hotels marks a transition for us as we celebrate our 25th year. This sets our intention to expand worldwide, in line with the next phase of the group's long-term growth. Worldwide Hotels strives to be a significant player in the global hospitality scene,” says Carolyn Choo, managing director, Worldwide Hotels Group.

Choo says that the goal is to acquire 20 hotels and more than 5,000 rooms before 2023, where the company will mark its 30th anniversary.

“Our overseas expansion is focused on acquiring high-quality assets in top locations in Asia Pacific. Currently, we do not manage these hotels but instead partner with well-established local hotel management groups. Our group adds value in asset enhancement and management,” Choo says.

With the first hotel established in 1993 by Group Chairman Choo Chong Ngen, Worldwide Hotels has been steadily growing its portfolio and is rapidly expanding overseas with over eight properties around Asia Pacific, with more developments in the pipeline.

Worldwide Hotels will be celebrating its launch in conjunction with the group's 25th anniversary in October.
