Travellers who enjoy reading a good book on a beach vacation can get a mini library delivered right to their villa’s doorstep at Soneva Fushi.

This mini library is dubbed the Book Tuk Tuk, that comes equipped with a personal Barefoot Bookseller who can provide recommendations on the books available. Guests can reach out to their butlers to have the Book Tuk Tuk driven up to them, wherever they are on the resort.

The Book Tuk Tuk was officially introduced at JLF Soneva Fushi, a festival called the ‘greatest literary show on Earth’ which was held from May 13 to 22, 2022. The festival that celebrated art, music and literature, saw the appearance of many renowned authors whose books are available to purchase from the Book Tuk Tuk.

The title of the Barefoot Bookseller goes to Georgie Polhill, who will be operating and driving the Book Tuk Tuk at Soneva Fushi. Besides curating the tuk tuk’s book selections, Polhill will also host creative writing classes, bibliography, academic tutoring for children and teens, and other literary events.

“At Soneva, we are always looking at ways to enhance our guests’ experiences, whether that has been by introducing sliding roofs that open up the sky to the master bedroom, adding slides to water villas for direct sea access or our complimentary ice cream and chocolate parlours,” says Sonu Shivdasani, CEO and co-founder of Soneva. “Now, we are bringing guests the Maldives’ first book Tuk Tuk to share in our love of literature and further embrace the Slow Life, too.”
