With an enviable location in Singapore's Queenstown heritage precinct,
the new Momentus Hotel Alexandra is a unique marriage of smart design
ethos, rich array of amenities, and thoughtful service philosophy, with a
fresh emphasis on being a work-meets-play sanctuary for guests.
The
newly launched 442-key hotel is also the flagship property of the
Momentus Hotels & Resorts brand under Momentus Hospitality, which
was established in 2022 and belongs to the Singapore-based Chip Eng Seng
Group, a construction and property conglomerate with commercial,
hospitality and residential assets in the region.
Previously
operating as Park Hotel Alexandra, the property closed in August 2022
to make way for a S$15 million (US$11.2 million) refurbishment, before
reflagging and reopening under the Momentus Hotels & Resorts brand
on 1 March as Momentus Hotel Alexandra.

With its prime location in Singapore's Queenstown district, Momentus Hotel Alexandra's Verandah Rooftop Rotisserie offers panoramic views of the surroundings.
Filling a market gap
Catering to the shift in mindset and preferences of travellers was
the impetus behind the launch of Momentus Hospitality, says Angeline
Tan, vice president at CES Hospitality, the hospitality business arm of
the Chip Eng Seng Group.
“It was fortuitous that our parent company, Chip Eng Seng Group, as
owners of hotels for the past decade in Australia, Maldives, and
Singapore, believed a reset of the hospitality space would be due
post-pandemic,” she tells Travel Weekly Asia.
Momentus encapsulates our vision of creating a thoughtful sanctuary for our guests to unwind, relax and recharge. For guests who chose to spend those moments with us, our goal is to enrich these moments to the best of our ability.– Angeline Tan, vice president, CES Hospitality
The new hospitality company was also born of a market gap, according
to Tan, as the team identified a noticeable lack of properties in
Singapore’s south-west catering to the business-class clientele despite
the area’s proximity to business hubs at One-North and Buona Vista, and
attractions such as Sentosa and VivoCity.
“These thought trajectories culminated in the creation of Momentus
Hospitality, giving us the opportunity to realise our ambition of
defining our version of Asian hospitality – a thoughtful sanctuary for
our guests,” she says.
The choice of the brand name ‘Momentus’ was deliberate, adds Tan. “It
encapsulates our vision of creating a thoughtful sanctuary for our
guests to unwind, relax and recharge. For guests who chose to spend
those moments with us, our goal is to enrich these moments to the best
of our ability.”
Tan, who boasts more than 30 years of experience in Asia’s
hospitality industry, has assembled her founding team - Momentus
Hospitality general manager Dino Lim and Momentus Hotel Alexandra hotel
manager Rachel Ng - to create and grow a unique hotel brand that
resonates with travellers as well as employees.
Thoughtful, sustainable design
“Sustainability and intentional design are the watchwords,” Tan
points out. “We are conscious of minimising our carbon footprint which
played a part in our decision to refurbish the property, rather than
rebuilding it. It was also an opportune time to update our
seven-year-old property.”
Working with KKS International and Social F+B by Design, the result
is an “organic” hotel that makes “a comfortable space for guests to
recharge and relax”, according to Tan.
Since its debut, Momentus Hotel Alexandra is fast making a name for
itself in the local hotel scene, winning over guests with its strong
sense of elegance, comfort, and airy openness interwoven with touches of
nature elements and neutral palettes.

The Momentus Hotel Alexandra creates restful moments for guests in its 442 tastefully adorned rooms and suites.
The entire lobby, decked out in tones of brown and an eye-catching
wall display, has been transformed into a lofty space featuring
island-like reception counters. The seventh level, meanwhile, is a
destination unto itself, featuring the 25m-long infinity pool flanked by
two stellar F&B outlets – the Verandah Pool Bar and Grill and the
Verandah Rooftop Rotisserie – all of which offer panoramic views of the
surroundings.
The commitment to sustainability is very much visible in Momentus
Hotel Alexandra’s installation of nano-filtered water dispensers in all
guestrooms and dining outlets, a move that is expected to eliminate the
use of nearly one million plastic bottles annually for the property.
The growth for Momentus
With Momentus Hotel Alexandra now up and running, Tan is setting her
sights on building up the Momentus Hotels & Resorts brand across Asia.
“Our focus in 2023 is on our flagship property. It will set the standard for future Momentus hotels to come,” says Tan.
“Momentus Hospitality has also identified properties within the APAC
region, both from within the Chip Eng Seng Group portfolio and our
partners, to fuel our stage of development.”
