As a hospitality provider with 4,000 hotels across 18 global brands
in nearly 100 countries, BWH Hotel Group recognises that it has a
responsibility to the environment and community in the destinations that
its properties operate in, and has thus joined the Sustainable
Hospitality Alliance (SHA).
The hotel group alongside other members within the SHA network make
up over 30% of the hotel industry by room count. Plans are for BWH to
embark on a journey with the rest of the network to achieve
sustainability surrounding areas of Environmental, Social and Governance
(ESG).
Ron Pohl, president of international operations for BWH Hotel Group
said that this marks “an important step in our effort to build a robust,
global ESG strategy for our company.
“Not only do our guests, partners and developers expect that brands
demonstrate a strong commitment to ESG efforts but executing an
effective and comprehensive ESG program is fundamentally the right thing
to do.”
The SHA actively works with the industry to identify issues affecting
the planet and its people, and spearheads sustainability initiatives to
address these global challenges. This year, SHA launched their Pathway
to Net Positive Hospitality to tackle environmental issues including
climate change, biodiversity loss and waste, in addition to working on
human rights risks and inclusive employment.
