In an interview with Travel Weekly Asia, One Farrer Hotel's general
manager, Gilbert Madhavan, shares his outlook, opportunities and
concerns for 2023 as China travel market comes back and MICE events pick
up.
The view ahead
With the return of the China market and MICE events, we are expecting
the demand to increase. However, the ongoing war between Russia and
Ukraine, high inflation rate and pending recession may affect the
business outlook. Despite these uncertainties, STB is projecting that
international visitor arrivals to Singapore to reach 12-14 million this
year.
Business growth plans
We have just launched our Saranggong Terrasse and Villas on level 6.
Saranggon Terrasse is an open garden concept, an ideal venue for a
myriad of events from grand wedding solemnisations, cocktail receptions
and organised activities.
Sarranggong Villa Series consists of three new villas and these
villas is innovative and versatile and easily to convert into a hybrid
or in-person meeting space, luxe venue for all occasions (up to about
50-80 guests).
The Peppomint is another new project that One Farrer Hotel has
embarked on, which caters to the silver generation to ensure the agility
of mind, body and soul.
Top opportunities and concerns
We are excited to see that people have started to travel for work or
leisure and the opening of the China market will certainly give a boost
to our international visitors’ arrivals. We are certainly concern on the
rising operation cost, high inflation rate and pending recession.
