Thai-based hotel developer Dusit International has unveiled its new
sustainability initiative, the ‘Tree of Life,’ aimed at creating a
positive impact on all the places it operates.
The Tree of Life programme, initially launched for all Dusit Hotels
and Resorts worldwide, will later extend to other business units,
including Dusit Hospitality Education, Dusit Foods, Property
Development, and Hospitality-Related Services.
Developed by the Sustainability Committee, the programme is aligned
with selected United Nations' Global Sustainable Development Goals,
focusing on Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) elements. This
includes the protection of vulnerable species, reduction of food waste,
minimising single-use plastic, energy conservation, staff and customer
well-being, and active involvement in community projects.
Properties are awarded 'Tree of Life leaves' based on their level of
achievement, with levels progressing as they meet more criteria.
According to Suphajee Suthumpun, group CEO, Dusit International, the
programme “serves as a catalyst for transformative action, ensuring that
our properties operate in harmony with the environment, foster
well-being for our guests and employees, and make a meaningful
difference in the world."
In previous initiatives, Dusit Hotels and Resorts sourced 100%
organic jasmine rice and procured cage-free eggs, supporting local
communities and enhancing supply chain management.
