Coastal resorts, urban retreats among new independent hotels in 2019

Opening soon at the end of the month in Spain, the Can Bordoy Grand House & Garden in Palma de Mallorca will offer an urban retreat in the city’s Old Quarter with 24 individually designed suites. Guests will have amenities such as a heated pool, Jacuzzi, and spa treatment spaces, and an al fresco dining experience at Botanic, a bistro-style restaurant.

Independent hotel brand Preferred Hotels & Resorts has unveiled 23 new properties across the world slated to launch in 2019, four of which are located in Asia Pacific. The new hotels add to its portfolio of more than 650 member hotels.

On Indonesia’s Sumba Island, Lelewatu Resort Sumba will add 27 villas set on a cliff-side overlooking a private lagoon and the Indian Ocean when it launches next April. 

The resort has two gourmet restaurants and a spa. Other activities includes yoga, horseback riding, trekking, and exploring the beautiful coastline, traditional villages, sacred lakes, and waterfalls.

In Malaysia’s business capital of Kuala Lumpur, Hotel EQ will open next March in a multi-use 52-storey building comprising 440 guestrooms. 

For meetings and events, guests have the use of banquet halls, meeting rooms and conference facilities, and can dine at a variety of restaurants, bars serving authentic pan-Asian and international cuisine, and the rooftop Sky Restaurant and Bespoke Lounge with panoramic views of the city.
