Located at the end of Singapore’s glitzy shopping district Orchard Road, Orchard Parade Hotel has completed its transformation into Orchard Rendezvous Hotel after a nearly three-year refurbishment, joining the Rendezvous brand in Singapore.

The hotel faces stiff competition in a tourism belt dotted with numerous other five star brands. Next door, a new hotel is being constructed.

The mid-scale hotel, acquired by Far East Hospitality in 1987, still stays true to its old-world, heritage roots – think white and black arched windows, elegant cornices and brass finishes – while sporting refreshed interiors inspired by a botanical theme.

The 388-key property was once the site of a plot of an old pepper plantation. The understated pepper plant motif runs through the hotel’s interiors, from the delicate pepper leaf chandeliers in the lobby to room interiors like carpets, headboards and art pieces.

“The rebranding of Orchard Rendezvous Hotel is part of Far East Hospitality's continuous efforts to meet the demands of the growing mid-tier market. The Rendezvous brand caters to conventional travellers – those who appreciate a hotel with old-world charms,” said Arthur Kiong, chief executive of Far East Hospitality.

The hotel has worked with the Orchid Society of South East Asia (OSSEA) to commission an orchid for Orchard Rendezvous Hotel. Guests will be able to see the commissioned orchid, Vanda Orchard Rendezvous, at the hotel’s outdoor swimming pool area. The orchid is a two-toned cross-hybrid of Vanda Pieces of Eight and Vanda Rasri Gold.

Guests will also be able to bring home handmade pressed orchid products by local art organisation, Sense of Arts.

Other properties under the brand, such as the Rendezvous Hotel Singapore, Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne, Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough, Rendezvous Hotel Perth Central, Rendezvous Hotel Sydney The Rocks and Rendezvous Hotel Sydney Central will also be refreshed progressively.
