Andaz Bali is this year’s winner of the Reggie Shiu Development of the Year award, presented during the Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP) in Singapore.
The award recognises newly built hotels and is based on 12 criteria, from innovative design, sense of place and sustainability to ROI, and is judged by a committee of industry professionals.
One of Accor's pioneers in Asia, Reggie Shiu, was among the casualties of the tsunami that hit the Khao Lak beachside in southern Thailand on December 26, 2004.
Marc Walz, hotel manager of Andaz Bali, said the award “is a testament to the quality, design and business performance of our hotel”.
He thanked owner PT Wynncor Bali, architect Martin Palleros “and other parties involved in making Andaz Bali great”.

Other finalists in this year’s Reggie Shiu Development of the Year award were Kimpton Kitalay Samui, Thailand, and Regent Phu Quoc – Kien Giang, Vietnam, the first new build Regent to open since IHG acquired the brand.
