Airbnb now an official Olympic Games accommodation provider

Online home-rental
marketplace Airbnb has gone mainstream with an official contract to provide
rooms for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The company will
provide at least 20,000 rooms to help alleviate accommodation shortages during
the Games.
"We help
cities to expand their offering and make better use of the resources they
already have," Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia said in an interview in Rio.

During the
soccer World Cup in Brazil last year more than 100,000 people stayed in
Airbnb-listed rooms. Rio now has the company's fourth largest number of
listings, behind Paris, New York and London.
