Hertz’ US website, hertz.com, receives the most number of US visitors among car rental companies, according to Media Metrix’s Digital Media Audience Report of Travel industry websites. In a recent survey, hertz.com received more than one million unique visitors during the month of March 2001, ranking 23rd among all travel industry websites reviewed by Media Metrix, and outpacing the next car rental company by more than 325,000 unique visitors a month. This is the first time that a car rental company has surpassed one million unique visitors in a single month in the Media Metrix ratings. In the US, almost 10 percent of Hertz’ car rentals are reserved over the Internet with the overwhelming majority of that business booked directly on hertz.com. The site, first introduced in 1997, has been continually upgraded to provide visitors with the tools and information needed to efficiently research and reserve a vehicle.
