BEIJING - Gullivers Travel Associates (GTA) has opened sales offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Hong Kong after becoming only the second foreign-owned travel company to be granted a licence to operate inside China.

This is according to a report on travelbiz.com.au. The licence, awarded by China National Tourism Administration, entitles GTA to handle both inbound and domestic travel.

GTA’s Australian general manager, Geoff Roberts, said the company would use its significant investment in travel technology and extensive global network of sales offices to bring updated, complete information on China for tourists.

“The GTA business model is tried and tested in 108 countries, and can handle approximately six million customers with only 2,000 staff, making us one of the most productive companies in the industry,” Roberts said.

“By actively working with the travel trade, we intend to bring the same benefits to China’s hotels, suppliers and domestic travel industry.
