LAHORE - Close on the heels of other international airlines, Gulf Air and Emirates Airlines have decided to suspend their operations to and from Pakistan from October. The decision, they added, has been taken in view of the fears of war looming large on the region.

Airlines, which have suspended or are about to suspend operations to and from Pakistan are SIA, Cathy Pacific Airways, Thai Airways, Swiss Air, Egypt Air and Yemen Airways.

Meanwhile, it is being reported that PIA has decided to abandon the earlier practice of baggage checking on its Toronto and New York flights. According to a PIA official, this has been done for facilitation of the passengers and due to increasing rush on these flights.
