SYNERGI, the US$7 billion global travel company, signed an affiliate agreement with Hong Kong’s Lotus Tours Ltd last month, and the group “plans to nail Korea, Japan and Taiwan” this year, Steve Lovato, vice president for Asia/
Pacific, told Travel Weekly East.
Lovato said SYNERGI had ‘languished’ in Asia, but was now aggressively recruiting partners. So far, the group has nine countries represented in Asia Pacific.
What do they look for in an affiliate? “We retain the local market flavour and add corporate buying power,” Lovato said. “We look for someone with an understanding of the local market but who’s looking to extend their international reach.”
From Hong Kong, Lotus managing director Patrick Kong said the link-up would help the firm “examine all aspects of a client’s international travel needs to develop appropriate business solutions and help its clients achieve the full benefits of a global travel programme”.
