Cruise liner postpones Asia leg over SARS fear

CAIRNS - Luxury cruise ship The World has postponed its Asian leg due to the atypical pneumonia (SARS) scare and will spend another month in Australia. According to New.com.au, owners of the floating apartment block made the decision after consulting the World Health Organisation. "Because of the (severe acute) respiratory syndrome (SARS) problem in South-east Asia they've decided to change their itinerary at this stage," he was quoted as saying. He said the boat would stay in Australian waters for around a month, until concerns had eased. After visiting several ports in northern Australia, The World will leave for a three-day stay in Singapore (May 4-7) and two days in Brunei (May 10-11).
