Cottan leaves Shang KL, Riley takes over

KUALA LUMPUR - After more than one and a half years with the Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur and having oversee the completion of the hotel's re-imaging programme, Michael Cottan leaves Malaysia today to take up his new posting as general manager for Shangri-La Sydney, Australia.

The Shangri-La Sydney is the newest property in the Shangri-La group portfolio, and Cottan will be responsible for its overall operations and financial results.

Riley, the new general manager for Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur, brings with him more than 21 years' experience in the hospitality industry. He has held various portfolios with international hotels in Hawaii, Japan, Australia, Singapore, China and Mauritius. He joined the Shangri-La group in 1996 as hotel manager of the Portman Shangri-La Hotel.

Riley was most immediately the general manager of Makati Shangri-La and area manager-Philippines, overseeing the operations and financial results of the Shangri-La's Mactan Island Resort, Cebu; Edsa Shangri-La, Manila; Makati Shangri- La; and Traders Hotel, Manila.
