9 April 2002 SINGAPORE - Chan Brothers International is offering retail travel agencies in the region a quick way to get on the Net, complete with content.
Going under the BooknTravel Holidays banner, the new scheme offers retail agents a personalised online store front including an individual web address, corporate details, and BooknTravel Holiday products, for no fee.
Although not limited to small-sized agents, Chan Khar Heng Chan, chief executive of BooknTravel Holidays, says this e-affiliate programme is likely to attract smaller agents that do not necessarily have the funds nor the technical expertise to get on the Net and expand their distribution channels on their own.
"The beauty of it is, retail agents will not have to pay anything for the first two years. We will waive the set up fee and maintenance charges," said Chan.
Agents who sign up for the programme will have to produce S$50,000 (US$27,260) worth of bookings per year to stay in the programme but BooknTravel will "review the terms on a case to case basis", said Jason Sim, business development manager of BooknTravel Holidays.
"That’s not a lot – if each package costs about S$1,500, that means the agent will only have to sell about 33 such packages to make up the quota in a year," said Sim.
Some 80 agents in Singapore and around the region had already signed up for the programme, ahead of its official trade launch tomorrow.
