An Indonesian man disguised himself as his wife by donning a niqab which covered him from head to toe board a domestic flight.
The man, only known as "DW", had boarded a Citilink plane from capital Jakarta to Ternate, the largest city in the Indonesian province of North Maluku.
DW had reportedly tested positive for Covid-19, and had swopped identities with his wife, who had been given the all clear. He used her ID and negative PCR test results to board — in an increasingly worrying pattern of fraudulent Covid documents.
According to a flight attendant, the man had gone into the plane's bathroom as a lady, but emerged wearing men's clothes. Airport authorities nabbed the man upon disembarking at Ternate.
An on-site PCR test revealed a positive Covid result, according to officials.
DW was swiftly evacuated in personal protective equipment, and then self isolated in Ternate, where he awaits prosecution.
