Beijing residents press for clean air

Beijing- Residents are wary of the impending termination of emergency anti-air pollution measures implemented during the Olympics. The emergency measures which were implemented starting July 20 will expire on September 20. Locals said the closure of polluting factories and dump sites and keeping about half of the city’s car off the road among other air control measures should continue. These emergency measures brought down the average daily pollution index by as much as 31 percent.
