Move over China. Vietnam will soon have the world's longest glass bridge.
Come Vietnam's Reunification Day on 30 April 30, the Bach Long bridge
will open to Moc Chau, a northern highlands town around 200km from
Hanoi. The 632m-long glass bridge is set to be one of the province's top
tourism attractions.
The bridge deck, about 150m above the ground, is said to be made of
three layers of 40mm-thick super tempered glass produced by French
company Saint Gobain. The entire cable car system is imported from South
Korea.
Only 500 people will be allowed to walk on the bridge at a time to
ensure safety, according to a Moc Chau Island Tourist Area
representative.
The local tourism authorities are currently seeking Guinness world
record recognition for Bach Long as the world’s longest glass bridge.
And when that happens, Bach Long will topple the records currently
held by Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, which measures about 430m long in
China's Hunan Province.
