Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh has opened the very first underground bar in Cambodia’s capital. Enter the Metropole Underground, inspired by the louche, chic vibes of Paris at the turn of the 20th century.

This speakeasy is secluded away underneath Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh, offering premium drinks, light bar bites, and nightly live entertainment ranging from bands to DJs. Guests will find a seamless visual transition stepping down from the hotel to Metropole Underground, as the hotel, along with the bar, both boast a Parisian art-deco design.

Unlike the hotel though, Metropole Underground is furnished with elements inspired by the French capital’s metro system, with replicas of cast iron detailing modelled after the original Paris Metro integrated into the space and transformed into sculptural and decorative features.

“Phnom Penh is widely known for the vibrancy of its bar scene. Therefore we are proud that we can add something new to the mix with Metropole Underground,” said Herman Kemp, general manager of the Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh.

The nightlife doesn’t just end there. At Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh, guests can even go bar-hopping within the comfort of their hotel itself. Tucked away in the eaves of the hotel’s colonial house is The Attic, an old-world speakeasy-style bar specialising in bespoke cocktails and grand cru wines.

Alternatively, on level 14, there is the FiveFive Rooftop Restaurant & Bar serving up grilled seafood and meats, and cocktails while guests take in aerial views of the Royal Palace, Mekong River, and the city skyline while listening to upbeat tracks spun by the DJs.
