After announcing the world’s first Jumanji ride at the Gardaland Resort
in Italy earlier this year, Merlin Entertainments is back again with the
Jumanji craze, this time with the world’s first Jumanji themed land set
to open at Chessington World of Adventures Resort in the UK.
operator Merlin Entertainments had previously entered into an agreement
with Sony Pictures Entertainment to develop and operate attractions,
rides, lands, retail outlets and themed hotel rooms based on the
studio’s box office hit Jumanji film franchise.
The latest development from this agreement is the opening of the
World of Jumanji in the UK, set to launch in spring 2023. The project
will take £17 million (US$20 million) to complete, making it the single
largest investment in the history of Chessington World of Adventures
Visitors will enter the World of Jumanji via an imposing entrance
portal, shrouded by an overgrown jungle with a 17m stone Jaguar looming
in the background. Details about the theme park’s rides, attractions and
experiences will soon be revealed in the coming months.
“What could be more exciting than bringing the global hit Jumanji
film franchise to life within the single largest development Chessington
has ever seen,” said Tim Harrison-Jones, divisional director at
Chessington World of Adventures Resort.
“We know what it takes to create the ultimate adventure for our
guests, spread over 128 acres (52 hectares) the resort already delivers
