Calling all wizards and muggles: a new Harry Potter theme park is opening in Tokyo on 16 June. The Warner Bros Studio Tour Tokyo - The Making of Harry Potter will be the largest indoor Harry Potter attraction in the world and the first in Asia.

The Tokyo park, the second Harry Potter attraction globally after London, will feature a range of exhibits, costumes, props, special effects, and models used in the Harry Potter films.

Visitors will have the chance to explore sets like Hogwarts' Great Hall and Diagon Alley, and even take a seat on the Hogwarts Express, all while experiencing green screen technology as they journey to the wizarding school.

But unlike the London park, the Tokyo version will also have a set that appeared in the Fantastic Beasts series. Fans can relive behind-the-scenes production of the movie series and experience the magic of the wizarding world like never before.

The 90,000sqm park is built on the site of the former Toshimaen park and will be larger than the one in London. The two-story steel-frame facility is still under construction and is set to open for a fixed period of 30 years.

Ticket sales start on 22 March and are will be priced at 6,300 yen (US$47) for adults, 5,200 yen (US$39) for those aged 12 to 17, and 3,800 yen (US$28) for children aged four to 11, and must be reserved in advance.

"We want to create a facility with an international flavour that can meet foreign visitors' expectations, to follow on from the Tokyo Olympics," Warner Bros Studio Japan vice president Toshihiro Matsuo, told Nikkei Asia.
